The Mardi Himal Trek is an exhilarating yet lesser-known trekking path in Nepal's Annapurna region, showcasing breathtaking vistas of the stunning Annapurna range and the revered Machhapuchhre peak. Ideal for those with limited time, this trek can be completed in just one week and is becoming increasingly popular due to its scenic beauty and accessibility.

The trek is considered one of the finest cultural treks in the Annapurna region, remaining largely untouched. While the trail offers spectacular views of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiuchuli, it is one of the least frequented routes in the area. This allows trekkers to enjoy a more peaceful experience with minimal encounters with other tourists.

The Trek takes you through pristine and less crowded natural landscapes, making it a shorter and easier option compared to many other trekking routes in Nepal.

I am Ajay, a seasoned mountain guide, group leader, and passionate traveler with an unwavering love for adventure. Travel has been more than just a profession—it's a way of life. Having spent over two-thirds of my existence exploring Nepal's breathtaking landscapes, I have traversed nearly every district on foot, by bicycle, and through hikes, from the remote western frontiers to the far eastern reaches. My journey into tourism was not just a career choice but a mission. Witnessing the unethical practices in Nepal’s tourism industry, I was determined to create something different—something built on integrity, responsibility, and authenticity. This vision led me to establish a platform where adventure meets ethical tourism. My goal is to showcase Nepal’s raw beauty while promoting responsible travel that respects nature, culture, and local communities. Over the years, I have built a thriving community of climbers, adventurers, and explorers from across the globe who share stories of the mountains and cherish the spirit of exploration. For me, every journey is more than just reaching a destination—it’s about the experience, the people, and the lessons learned along the way. Whether trekking through the Himalayas, cycling across rugged terrains, or leading groups on life-changing expeditions, I am always driven by the desire to inspire others to embrace the true essence of travel. Let’s explore, experience, and evolve—one adventure at a time!

Tour provider's comments

The Mardi Himal Trek is a relatively easy trek in Nepal that offers spectacular views of the Annapurna range. The trail starts at a low elevation and gradually climbs to an elevation of 4,500 meters, making it suitable for most people. While the trail is not overly challenging, some areas require caution. The trail passes through narrow valleys and high ridges, and the entire trail is uphill until Upper View Point.

Most trek days include 4-7 hours of slow hiking, so it's important to be in good physical condition to tackle the trek.

In addition, the snow season can make the trail tricky. Trekkers should be aware of crevasses, as well as snow and ice, and heed the instructions of the guide in order to avoid any potential danger. It is also important to be prepared with the right gear and clothing, as the weather can change quickly in the mountains.

I had an incredible experience on the Poon Hill trek organized by this team. My guide, Bijay, was outstanding: he was always on time, attentive, spoke excellent English, and made the trek enjoyable. Bijay chose fantastic guest houses that were very comfortable, offering hot showers and stunning views of Annapurna South (first night in Ulleri) and Dhaulagiri (second night in Ghorepani). He consistently ensured I was comfortable and had everything I needed, showcasing his extensive experience. I highly recommend both the company and Bijay!
