6- Day Desert Adventure

We join our caravan team and set off southward, ascending to the Oum Laachar pass.

Camels and dromedaries will carry all our luggage, equipment, kitchen supplies, food, and a reserve of water. We'll enjoy our picnic lunch beneath the shade of a large acacia tree.

After lunch, a 1.5-hour walk will lead us to a tranquil area where we will spend our second night near a large well filled with fresh water.

We stroll along the Oued Mhasser.

Throughout the day, we'll encounter small dunes and enjoy a picnic in charming oases.

After approximately 5.5 hours of hiking, we'll set up camp on a large plateau. Later, we'll savor tea at the Nomad house.

We traverse a rocky valley that eventually opens up into an expansive plateau. Occasionally, the heat of the sun on the ground creates mirages. Here, we might spot gazelles, rabbits, squirrels, and lizards.

Soon, we'll catch sight of the magnificent Chegaga dunes, where we plan to set up camp by mid-afternoon. During this season, daytime temperatures range from 20 to 25ºC, dropping to 10 to 15ºC at night.

Our campsite, featuring a well, is usually frequented by nomads and their livestock. Before dinner, we’ll take a leisurely walk along the towering dunes, leaving our footprints along their ridges, and then enjoy a breathtaking sunset on the distant horizon.

Prior to our departure, our team will fill the water containers, as this leg of the journey will be dry and our next campsite lacks a water source. We will leave the populated area and traverse the desert in a serene silence that encourages reflection.

At midday, we will take a break to escape the sun's harshness, seeking shelter under any vegetation we can find.

In the mid-afternoon, we will set up camp amidst the stunning desert dunes of Bougarn. As the day comes to a close, you’ll have the opportunity to experience a camel ride across the dunes.

This morning is unique: we will enjoy breakfast at around 4 am. Our 4x4 transfer will be ready to take us to Mhamid village, the last significant settlement before the Algerian border.

We’ll have the chance to experience driving on the dunes once again. After about an hour and a half, our comfortable bus will be waiting to take us to Marrakech, with a journey time of approximately 6.5 hours, passing through Zagora and Ouarzazate.
