Route details

Day 1
Marrakech – Imi Oughlad – Ttizi n'Tachte – Tiziane

We will depart early in the morning from Marrakech for a pleasant drive south, winding through the stunning Moulay Brahim Gorge and the upper valleys. Our journey will lead us to the foothills of the Western High Atlas Mountains, where we’ll reach the trailhead at Imi Oughlad (1450m). Here, we will be greeted by the imposing Jbel Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa at 4167m, along with Aguelzim at 3650m and Aksoual at 3884m.

After disembarking from our vehicle, we will meet our Berber muleteer crew and take on a two-hour acclimatization hike. This trek will take us northwest along switchback mule tracks, through fields of corn and groves of pine and juniper, until we reach Tiz n'Tachete (2000m). Here, we’ll pause to take in the breathtaking views of the Imlil and Ait Oussaden valleys before continuing for another half hour to Imi n'Ifri for our picnic lunch

Afterward, we’ll enjoy a leisurely hike of about two and a half hours southwest along a dirt track towards Assif n'Ait Oussaden, arriving at the red clay terraced village of Tiziane (1750m) where we’ll spend the night in our bivouac or gîte.

Hassan prepared for us a three-day trekking offer to Jebel Tubkla (4176 m above sea level) with two nights in a mountain shelter. Under Hassan's guidance, we reached the peak and the weather and moods were great. Hassan organized everything perfectly, took care of all the details, told us a lot about trekking in the mountains. He picked us up from Marrakesh and took us back. We didn't have to worry about anything. I sincerely recommend his services, you will be satisfied.

The hike was amazing and made far better by these guys. Superb service and loads of tea! They had mules to carry some of our kit, provided brilliant meals all the way, helped fitting crampons and were genuinely great people. Could not recommend more.
