The Panorama Ginza is a trail for hikers who like to stay high — above the forests, above the valleys, with the Japan Alps stretched out in sharp lines of granite and cloud.
This guided trek starts in Tokyo, with independent train travel to Matsumoto before the mountain route begins at Nakabusa Onsen. From there, the trail climbs through forest to Mt. Tsubakuro and Enzanso Hut, then follows one of Japan’s most famous alpine ridges toward Jonen and Chōgatake. Expect long walking days, rocky paths, narrow sections, and constant views across deep valleys and rugged peaks. The final descent leads into Kamikōchi, one of the most beautiful valley areas in the Northern Japan Alps.
Nights are spent in classic Japanese mountain huts, with simple shared sleeping spaces, early dinners, and lights out around 20:00. There are no porters, so each hiker carries their own backpack with trail essentials and lunches. This is a demanding but deeply rewarding trek for experienced hikers who want Japan’s mountain culture, clean alpine trails, and ridge views that stay with you long after the descent. Join this trek and walk one of the great high routes of the Japan Alps!
