Escape the crowds and immerse yourself in the authentic beauty of Umbria and Le Marche, where history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes await. While Assisi is well-known for Saint Francis, the surrounding region remains a true hidden gem, rich in tradition, exquisite cuisine, and exceptional wines.

Our journey begins in the ancient hilltop town of Orvieto, just an hour from Rome by train. From there, we’ll explore the charming villages of Trevi, Montefalco, and Bevagna before venturing into the lush countryside of Urbino in Le Marche, a Renaissance masterpiece near the Adriatic Sea.

Walk scenic trails lined with endless olive groves, marvel at picturesque medieval villages, and savor the region’s culinary delights. Don’t miss the chance to taste Sagrantino, one of Italy’s most prestigious full-bodied wines. With its stunning Renaissance architecture and vibrant atmosphere, Urbino is an unforgettable highlight.

Tour provider's comments

In short, this is a 2+ rating that indicates a walk that’s slightly more challenging than easy, but still not too difficult, making it a good choice for those with basic experience and fitness.

A walk rating of 2+ on a scale from 1 to 5 typically indicates that the walk or hike is of moderate difficulty, but slightly easier than a full 3 rating. Here’s a breakdown of what this might mean:

  • Terrain: The terrain may be uneven, with some inclines or obstacles, but generally manageable for most people with moderate fitness. There could be a mix of flat and mildly challenging sections.
  • Distance: The distance is not overly long but might require more time than an easy walk. This could be somewhere between 3 to 5 miles (5-8 km), though it varies depending on the setting.
  • Elevation gain: There could be some uphill or downhill sections, but nothing too steep or sustained. The elevation changes would be noticeable but not strenuous.
  • Skill level: It would be suitable for beginners looking to challenge themselves slightly, or for intermediate walkers looking for a more relaxed outing.
