Dreaming of exploring the Italian Alps and Dolomites, but worried it might be too challenging? We’ve designed the perfect trip for you! Our easy-going hikes avoid steep climbs and fears of heights, ensuring plenty of fun and breathtaking views.

We start in Bressanone, a charming town with red roofs, where we explore a local winery producing exceptional white wines. Then, we head to Valle Aurina, soaking in the stunning mountain landscapes. In Campo Tures, a town nestled between two valleys, we stay in a cozy 4-star hotel with a spa.

Each day, we visit cheese farms, wool workshops, and dine at traditional malgas, mountain huts surrounded by wildflower meadows. A visit to a local mine offers insight into the region’s history.

Of course, we explore the Dolomites, including the iconic Tre Cime di Lavaredo, with peaceful hikes away from the crowds. Designed in Walk About Italy style, this trip offers authentic experiences and tranquility in a stunning part of Italy near the Austrian border.

Route details

Day 1
Meeting in Bressanone

You’ll meet your guide in the hotel lobby for a brief overview of the week ahead. Then, we set off with a local guide to discover the charm of Bressanone, a quaint town steeped in history. Our walk highlights the impressive cathedral, home to the Romanesque-Gothic cloister, which is considered one of South Tyrol’s most significant artistic monuments, especially renowned for its frescoes. With a rich past, Bressanone has welcomed numerous illustrious guests, including several emperors. Its importance grew due to its status as a bishopric in the Valle Isarco.

After our insightful stroll, we dive into the region's culinary delights with a hearty meal of goulash and strangolapreti (a traditional dish of short noodles made with stale bread, flour, eggs, and onions).

Tour provider's comments

A walk rating of 3 on a scale from 1 to 5 typically indicates an experience that is moderate or average.

Here’s what this might convey:

– Effort: The walk may have some challenging aspects, such as mild inclines or uneven terrain, but it’s generally manageable for most people. It might not be as easy as a leisurely stroll (which would likely score a 1 or 2) but isn’t as strenuous as a hike with steep climbs (which could score a 4 or 5).

– Scenery: The surroundings are breathtaking.

– Duration: The length is moderate, neither too short nor too long, suitable for those looking for a decent amount of time outdoors without it feeling too intense.

– Accessibility: The path is doable for people with a basic level of fitness but could present minor challenges for those less mobile.

Overall, a 3 suggests a balanced, middle-of-the-road experience—neither overly easy nor too difficult.

The Drumlerhof is located in Campo Tures at the beginning of the Valle Aurina. In this hotel, respect for nature and respect for people go hand in hand. We, Innerhofer-Fauster, are like this: we support local producers with conviction, we buy only fair trade products and we have been managing the hotel for years according to the principle that there must be the right balance between nature, man and well-being. We were gluten-free before fashion exploded, Ruth knows her stuff in the kitchen, and our desire is to leave what we have inherited to our grandchildren.
Hotel Drumlerhof in South Tyrol: for a dream vacation you need the right contact with reality.
