There is a special kind of quiet in Hossa. Snow softens the forest, frozen lakes turn into white paths, and the day feels like it: snowshoes, open fire, hot soup, sauna, sleep. This remote corner of north-eastern Finland is made for those who want to feel the peace of real winter nature.
Most of the route goes through Hossa National Park — across snow-white forests, along ridges, over frozen lakes, and through terrain with short ascents and descents. You will visit Lounatkoski rapids with its old mill and timber-floating remains, see the 4000-year-old Colour Rock paintings, and spend two nights in rustic wilderness huts without modern facilities, but with wood-stove warmth and candlelight.
Each day includes around six hours of snowshoeing. Beginners are welcome, but reasonable fitness is needed. Transfers, meals, luggage transport, cabins, saunas, and an English-speaking guide are included. Come to Hossa for snow, silence, and winter that feels completely real!
