Day 1
Transfer to Penitentes Village and Trek to the Base Camp
8:30 AM – We’ll pick you up from your hotel, ensuring a convenient and comfortable start to your journey.
Enjoy a 2.5-hour drive through breathtaking landscapes as we ascend to 2800m (9190 ft), the perfect introduction to the majestic Andes.
Trek to Base Camp through Quebrada de Vargas: Get ready for a 6-7 hour hike through the stunning Quebrada de Vargas. This scenic route leads us to Base Camp at 3212m (10541 ft), with a gradual elevation gain of 411m (1351 ft). Along the way, marvel at the dramatic mountain views, serene valleys, and vibrant natural surroundings.
Activities at Base Camp: After arriving, immerse yourself in the tranquility of the Andes. Help set up camp, enjoy a hearty dinner under the stars, and unwind in the crisp mountain air.
Overnight Stay: Rest comfortably at Base Camp, surrounded by the serenity of the mountains, and prepare for more adventures to come.
Day 2
Climb Penitentes Summit
Embark on a thrilling 6-8 hour ascent to the summit of Mount Penitentes, reaching an impressive altitude of 4336m (14,229 ft). With an elevation gain of 1124m (3688 ft), this climb rewards your efforts with breathtaking panoramic views of the Andes, including the iconic Mount Aconcagua and the majestic Tupungato Volcano.
Activities: Experience the exhilaration of reaching the summit, take in the awe-inspiring scenery, and capture unforgettable memories. Afterward, descend back to Base Camp for a well-earned rest.
Overnight Stay: Spend the night at Base Camp, reliving the day’s incredible adventure as you relax under the starry Andean sky.
Day 3
Return to Mendoza
Begin your day with a 4-5 hour scenic trek back to Penitentes Village, retracing your steps through the captivating landscapes of the Andes.
Optional Activity: If time allows, enjoy a short walk in the renowned Aconcagua Park. Take in close-up views of Mount Aconcagua, the tallest peak in the Americas, and immerse yourself in the park’s natural beauty.
Drive Back to Mendoza: Relax and unwind during the 2.5-hour drive back to Mendoza, reflecting on the unforgettable memories of your journey. Arrive back at your hotel by 7:00 PM.

UPPER BODY
2 Long-sleeved Base Layer: Lightweight and breathable shirts that keep your body dry and comfortable during the trek, and protected from the sun.
Fleece Jacket or Sweater: Provides additional warmth during cold mornings and evenings.
Waterproof or Windproof Jacket: Essential for protection against rain and wind. It should be lightweight, breathable, and durable. Preferably with a hood.
Insulated Jacket (Synthetic or Down): Offers an extra insulation layer, ideal for low temperatures at high altitudes. Preferably hooded.

Is the group of climbers big?
We like small groups. We focus on giving every climber a fair chance to summit.
Will you pick us up from our accomodation?
Yes, we provide pick-up from accommodations in Mendoza City, Luján, or Maipú. Pick-ups from Valle de Uco are available for private trips only, at an additional cost. Ask us!
What kind of gear shoul I bring?
When hiking at high altitudes, it is important to be protected from the sun, the cold and the wind. Since we will be staying at campsites overnight, you will also need comfortable clothes. Additionally, good hiking boots are necessary. For a detailed list of equipment, check the equipment section for this trip.
What do I do if i don't have all the items on the equipment list?
If you do not have all the recommended gear, you can rent it in Mendoza. We will recommend stores with special discounts. Sometimes we can offer you some items for free, so please contact us.
What meals are included during the hike?
Full board is included at the basecamps and also the day snacks. Menus will be determined according to the daily camp menu. Some of the possibilities are:

Do we need to carry our camping gear?
Don’t worry! You will carry your day backpack only, with some clothes, water and snacks. All the camping equipment can be delivered with the mules. So, no worries..You’ll be hiking super light!

In case of early cancellation of the reservation, we will be forced to withhold from you a percentage of the price paid:
