Day 1
Meeting in San Martin de los Andes
Welcome Meeting: The group will gather in San Martin de los Andes for an in-depth briefing led by our expert mountain guides. They will share crucial pre-trip information, including details about the ascent, route conditions, and valuable last-minute tips to ensure a successful climb.
Equipment Check: We will conduct a comprehensive review of your gear, and if necessary, we can help arrange rentals for equipment such as crampons, ice axes, or extra cold-weather clothing.
Accommodation: Please note that the night in San Martin de los Andes is not included in the package.
Day 2
Ascent to the Refuge | 2,350 m – 7,710ft
Transfer to Tromen Pass: We will set off early in the morning for Tromen Pass, located at the base of the north face of Lanin Volcano, where the Park Ranger Station is found. At this location, park rangers will conduct an inspection of the expedition members' equipment.
Start of the Ascent: The ascent begins with an initial phase that will take about 5 to 7 hours. The trail winds through rocky terrain, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. Our destination is one of the mountain refuges at an elevation of 2,350 meters, where we will spend the night. After a rewarding dinner, we will rest to prepare for our summit push.
Accommodation: Depending on the conditions, we will either stay in the refuge or camp in tents.
Trekking Details: The trek involves an elevation gain of 1,150 meters (3,773 feet).
Day 3
Summit Day | 3,776 m – 12,388ft
Summit Attempt: We start our day early, making our way to the permanent snowfields that blanket the upper reaches of Lanin Volcano. The ascent will require crampons and ice axes, and our guides will provide a comprehensive briefing on how to use this equipment before we begin our journey.
Reaching the Summit: After 7 to 8 hours of climbing, we finally arrive at the breathtaking summit of Lanin Volcano, standing at 3,776 meters. The panoramic views stretching across Argentina and Chile, dotted with distant lakes and rugged terrain, are truly awe-inspiring.
Descent to Base: After taking in the stunning sights at the summit, we start our descent back to the refuge area. This trek down to the base takes approximately 4 hours.
Return Transfer: We will then transfer back to San Martin de los Andes, marking the conclusion of our expedition.
Trekking Details: Elevation gain: 1,470 m (4,823 ft) / Elevation loss: 2,626 m (8,615 ft).
