Albanian High Scardus – Hiking Experience

After breakfast, transfer from Kukës to the mountain village of Bafje. Drive along winding roads with panoramic views of the Scardus range. Arrive at the trailhead and prepare for today’s hike.

Start the trek from Bafje to Caje. Hike 12–14 km through forests, alpine meadows, and rugged mountain terrain. Follow the famous “Colors Trail,” known for its vibrant wildflowers in spring and summer.

Ascend gradually and enjoy wide views over valleys and peaks. Pause along the way to take in the silence and untouched nature.

Overnight in Caje

After breakfast, start the hike from Caje to Radomirë. Cover 16–18 km in approximately 6–7 hours through the heart of the Scardus Mountains.

Walk along forest trails, rocky sections, and open alpine fields. Follow paths with steady ascents and descents. Push through a few challenging stretches and enjoy sweeping views over deep valleys and surrounding peaks.

Arrive in Radomirë, a peaceful mountain village known for its traditional stone houses and untouched setting. Relax and enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the highlands.

Overnight in Radomirë

Today is summit day. After an early breakfast, start the ascent to Korab Peak — the highest mountain in Albania and North Macedonia.

Hike 12–14 km with a steady elevation gain that will test your endurance. Follow steep mountain trails and push through challenging sections as the landscape opens into dramatic alpine terrain.

Reach the summit and enjoy panoramic views across the Scardus range and deep mountain valleys. Take a well-earned break at the top and capture unforgettable photos.

Descend back to Radomirë in the afternoon. Celebrate the achievement with a hearty mountain dinner.

Overnight in Radomirë

After breakfast, leave Radomirë and trek toward the remote pastures of Grama. Hike 14–16 km through wild alpine terrain in the heart of the Scardus Mountains.

Cross open meadows and forested ridges. Climb a few steady ascents and enjoy wide views over distant peaks and deep valleys. Feel the sense of isolation as the landscape becomes more untouched.

Arrive at the Grama pastures, a quiet and almost mystical area known for its karstic lakes and raw mountain beauty. Take time to rest and absorb the silence of the highlands.

Overnight in a local mountain guesthouse near Grama

Start the final hike from Grama to Rabdisht, covering approximately 18 km. Descend through alpine meadows, dense forests, and small mountain villages.

Watch the landscape gradually change from rugged peaks to rolling hills and fertile valleys. Pause along the way to enjoy the views and capture last memories of the Scardus Mountains.

Arrive in Rabdisht, a village of old stone houses and tranquil rural charm. Explore the village and relax after the trek.

Celebrate the journey with a farewell dinner and overnight stay in Rabdisht

After a restful night in Rabdisht, drive to Peshkopi through scenic rural landscapes and quaint villages. Stop for lunch and explore the town’s surroundings.

Continue the journey back to Tirana, passing rolling hills and picturesque countryside. Enjoy one last look at the stunning Albanian scenery.
