The Ghorepani PoonHill Trek begins with a drive from Kathmandu to the picturesque city of Pokhara, known as the city of lakes. The journey follows the swift currents of the Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers, passing through various settlements and lush, rolling hills. In Pokhara, you can discover the deep, narrow gorge of the roaring Seti River, along with its waterfalls and cave systems, as well as other attractions in the area. After exploring Pokhara, you will take a short drive to Nayapul, which serves as the starting point for numerous treks in the region.
From Nayapul, the trek continues to Thikhedhunga, navigating forested paths and crossing streams, waterfalls, and small villages. From Thikhedhunga, you will proceed to the quaint village of Ghorepani, following a well-maintained series of stone steps through beautiful oak and rhododendron forests. Once in Ghorepani, take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and lifestyle.
