Crvena Greda (2164m), commonly referred to as Red Rock, may not be the tallest summit in Durmitor, but its stunning beauty and popularity make it an essential destination. Located in the northwest section of the Durmitor Mountain range, Crvena Greda stands out with its breathtaking views and is a familiar sight on postcards.
From Žabljak, Crvena Greda dominates the scenery, providing unparalleled vistas of the Durmitor massif, Black Lake, Zminje Lake, and the picturesque landscape of Žabljak itself. Its name, Red Rock, fittingly comes from the vivid red-orange colors that illuminate its eastern face at sunrise, creating a mesmerizing natural display.
Although it isn't one of the highest peaks, Crvena Greda's charm lies in its striking scenery and easy accessibility. It’s a favored choice for hikers looking for a moderately challenging trek, with clearly defined trails beginning near the Momčilov Grad restaurant. While the route may not be officially marked, it is straightforward to follow, ensuring a fulfilling adventure to one of Durmitor’s most captivating peaks.
