The Gran Paradiso Winter Hike is an unforgettable snowshoeing experience in one of Europe’s most beautiful national parks.
Blanketed in snow, Gran Paradiso transforms into a silent white wonderland filled with wildlife and breathtaking alpine views.

Our goal is Noaschetta Hut (1520 m), a cozy and rustic refuge equipped with a wood stove and electricity — the perfect place to warm up, cook dinner, and enjoy good company.
The hike to reach the hut takes about two hours through forests, frozen waterfalls, and snow-covered valleys.

The following day, you can explore deeper into the valley, spotting chamois and, with some luck, ibex or vultures.
This is a peaceful winter retreat for families and beginners who want to experience the Alps in their quietest, most magical season.

The Unguarded Hut is the more adventurous and suggestive option. It’s like a small one-room house in the middle of the mountains, usually located at more than 2,500 meters (about 8,000 feet). Moreover, it’s the cheapest option, so if you are hiking alone or want to limit costs, this will be the best choice. Most of the experienced trekkers who come with me, as well as young people on their first mountain adventure, often choose this option. It can also be a very nice experience for children, especially for a single night.

Sleeping in an unguarded hut is a bit like comfortable camping, but with the big advantage that all unguarded huts (bivacchi in Italian) have beds, blankets, and pillows. They usually also have a table where you can sit, play cards, and eat together.

In the unguarded hut, there is no toilet or shower, and you’ll need to bring your own sleeping bag. The food is usually cooked by me, but I’ll need your help to carry it up, as nothing is sold up there.
