The Wild Dolomites Hike leads through the Marmarole Group, one of the most rugged and untouched corners of the Dolomites. This trek spans 58 km (36 mi) with a 3,300 m (10,000 ft) elevation gain, revealing dramatic peaks, quiet valleys, and true alpine wilderness.
The Marmarole massif, admired even by Renaissance painter Titian, blends harsh northern cliffs with bright, sunlit southern slopes, offering a striking contrast of power and serenity. Despite being surrounded by iconic Dolomite peaks, this region remains remote and rarely visited, preserving its raw and authentic beauty.
Starting from Val d’Ansiei, the route follows a circular path that captures the group from every angle — through alpine forests, panoramic ridges, and wild valleys. Each day brings new perspectives, from the lush Pian dei Buoi pastures to the historic San Marco Refuge (1895), where the charm of early mountaineering still lingers.
