A quiet path runs through forests and water, connecting two places that have stood in silence for centuries. This journey follows that path — from Valamo Monastery to the Lintula nunnery — along a historic route shaped by prayer, travel, and everyday life.
The hike leads through varied terrain: narrow forest trails, sandy roads, and long stretches shaped by water and time. Along the way, you pass the Taivallahti Canal, part of Finland’s nationally protected cultural heritage, and continue through landscapes that feel both wild and carefully preserved. Midway, a break at Taivalkota offers time to rest and enjoy a simple open-fire lunch. The route ends at Lintula Monastery after a full day of walking, reflection, and shared effort. Before and after the hike, there is time to explore Valamo, walk its holy paths, and learn about the history of the area.
Accommodation is arranged at Valamo Monastery and a nearby guesthouse, offering peaceful surroundings and simple comfort. Meals, sauna, transfers, and guiding are included, allowing you to focus fully on the walk itself. This journey is designed for those who enjoy meaningful routes, steady movement, and the quiet presence of nature. Join the walk and experience a rare path that connects landscape, history, and stillness!
