The day begins with a private boat transfer to the island of Hvar, one of Croatia’s most enchanting and sun-soaked destinations. Your cycling journey starts in the Stari Grad Plain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Greek settlers began cultivating olives and grapes in the 4th century BC. This timeless landscape, still crisscrossed with ancient stone walls and traditional shelters (“trims”), has remained largely unchanged for over 2,400 years.
Your first urban stop is Vrboska, Hvar’s smallest town, fondly nicknamed “Little Venice” thanks to its narrow bay, small central island, and graceful bridges. Here, you’ll visit the unique fortified Church of St. Mary of Grace, built in the 16th century as a defense against Ottoman raids, and enjoy a relaxing break at the Fishermen’s Museum, where you’ll dive into the island’s maritime past.
Next, you'll ride under the cool shade of a pine forest to Jelsa, a charming town that’s a paradise for wine lovers. Take a moment to visit the renowned Tomić and Duboković wineries, where you can sample exceptional wines made from native grape varieties like Plavac Mali and Bogdanuša.
From Jelsa, a scenic climb leads you through the hilltop villages of Pitve, Vrbanj, Svirće, and Vrisnik—once preferred settlements for their safety and fertile surroundings. The ride winds through olive groves, fig trees, vineyards, and pine forests, offering a peaceful and authentic glimpse into Hvar’s rural life.
Your route brings you next to Stari Grad, the island’s oldest town. Here, you’ll have free time to explore landmarks such as the 16th-century Tvrdalj Castle of poet Petar Hektorović, the Dominican Monastery, St. Nicholas Church, and the local museum.
Recharged from your break, prepare for a 9-kilometre ascent—the last major climb of the tour. At the summit, you'll be rewarded with a panoramic view of the Adriatic, the Pakleni Islands, and even Vis glimmering on the horizon. A breezy downhill descent takes you past the near-abandoned stone hamlets of Velo and Malo Grablje, where only a handful of residents remain.
And then comes the grand finale: an exhilarating downhill ride into the stunning town of Hvar.
This radiant coastal gem blends historic charm and natural beauty with a lively spirit. Known for its bohemian elegance, buzzing nightlife, and Venetian architecture, Hvar is a true crown jewel of Croatian tourism—and the perfect place to end your journey.
As we reach Hvar town, we say goodbye—sharing one last toast, memory, and smile after an unforgettable ride through the heart of Dalmatia.
