Our mountaineering expedition takes us deep into Bolivia’s Cordillera Real, home to some of the most stunning alpine peaks in the Western Hemisphere. We begin in La Paz, spending several days acclimatizing before heading to Illimani (21,201 ft), a non-technical snow climb that offers breathtaking views and serves as perfect preparation for higher, steeper climbs.
Next, we move to Ancohuma (21,095 ft), one of the range’s most beautiful peaks. This climb features steep snow and ice slopes up to 55°, with mixed rock and snow terrain leading to the thrilling 1,500-foot knife-edge north ridge and summit.
After descending to base camp and resting, we set out for our final and most challenging goal: Illampu (20,873 ft). With steep ice and snow climbing, this peak rewards us with unforgettable views of the Cordillera Real, Lake Titicaca, the Amazon Basin, and eastern Peru.
